Consumer A/V service in Canada, down to the component.
Receivers, speakers, headphones, turntables: this is the hardware Microland was built on. We run authorized warranty service and depot repair for consumer audio and home theatre brands, plus returns and refurbishment programs for the distributors and retailers that carry them.
Consumer A/V fails in ways that punish a swap-only depot. Receiver HDMI boards die from years of hot-plugging, amplifier output stages blow, power supplies drift out of spec, Bluetooth and streaming modules drop off, headphone hinges and headbands crack, turntable motors and tonearms wear. Almost all of it is repairable at the board and component level, which is exactly the bench we have run since 1994. Microland is an authorized service centre for brands including Sony, Yamaha, Onkyo, Pioneer, and Cambridge Audio, and that authorized work sets the standard the rest of the bench runs to.
For brand service teams, the depot is your Canadian warranty program: entitlement rules applied per unit, estimates on out-of-warranty work, and every serial tracked in the portal. For distributors and retailers, it is the destination for channel returns and open-box stock: triage, repair, refurbishment, cosmetic grading, and disposition, all in-country so no unit picks up border days, brokerage, or duty. We also run model-specific programs when a fleet-wide fault appears, like the headband replacement program for Sony WH-1000XM4 and WH-1000XM5 headphones and 8K HDMI board upgrades for receivers.

When consumer A/V brands need Canadian service
- A brand’s Canadian customers are waiting on a cross-border warranty loop, and every RMA is collecting shipping days, brokerage, and duty.
- Retail returns and open-box audio gear are piling up with no refurbishment or resale path, so sellable units are being liquidated for pennies.
- A recurring fault on one model needs a structured repair program, not one-off bench jobs.
- A brand has no Canadian service presence at all, and support requests are landing on dealers who have nowhere to send the units.
- Discontinued or legacy hi-fi lines still generate repair demand, but the original service network has wound down.
Consumer A/V repair questions brands and owners ask
Which consumer A/V brands are you an authorized service centre for?
Microland is an authorized service centre for brands including Sony, Yamaha, Onkyo, Pioneer, and Cambridge Audio, covering warranty and out-of-warranty repair. Beyond authorized programs, the same bench services consumer audio and home theatre equipment from most major manufacturers sold in Canada.
Do you repair single devices for individual owners, or only run brand programs?
Both. Brand, distributor, and retailer programs are the core of the depot, but individuals can send in a single receiver, headphone, or turntable through our online RMA process: you get an estimate after diagnosis and approve it before any work starts.
Can you repair audio electronics at the component level?
Yes, and for this category it matters. Output stages, power supplies, HDMI boards, DACs, and streaming modules are diagnosed and repaired on the board itself, including BGA rework where needed. That is the difference between recovering a receiver and scrapping it over one failed stage.
How do returns and refurbishment programs work for A/V retailers and distributors?
Returns and open-box stock flow into a structured pipeline: receiving and triage, functional testing against spec, repair where warranted, refurbishment and cosmetic grading, repackaging, and disposition back to your stock or into a resale channel. Every unit is tracked by serial in the portal so you can see exactly what came back and where it went.
Can you run model-specific repair or upgrade programs?
Yes. When one model develops a known fault or needs a mid-life update, we build a dedicated program around it, with defined repair actions, parts stock, and per-unit reporting. Current examples include the headband replacement program for Sony WH-1000XM4 and WH-1000XM5 headphones and 8K HDMI board upgrades for A/V receivers.
Is equipment tested to specification after repair?
Yes. Audio equipment is verified for output power, distortion, and channel behaviour; video paths for signal and switching; wireless and streaming functions for connectivity. A unit leaves the bench working to spec, not just powering on.
