What’s the difference between refurbishment and repair?
Repair fixes a fault and returns the unit to its owner. Refurbishment prepares a unit for resale: functional repair plus cosmetic restoration, data sanitization, grading, and repackaging. The end state of repair is a working unit; the end state of refurbishment is a sellable one, with a grade a buyer can trust.
How do you keep grading consistent?
Grading runs on our in-house platform with AI-assisted models applied against grade definitions we agree with you up front. That removes the drift you get when grading lives in individual operators’ heads: the same criteria are applied to every unit, every batch, and every grade is recorded per serial so you can look up any unit’s history in the portal.
What happens to units that fail refurbishment?
They don’t go straight to scrap. Because we repair to the board level, many units that fail an initial test are still recoverable economically. Units that truly aren’t worth repairing route to harvesting for parts or to secure destruction and responsible recycling. Your rules decide the threshold, and every disposition is visible in the portal.
How does resale work without undercutting our new-product channel?
Refurbished units sell through Skadi Electronics, a Canada-only, refurbished-only channel. Your refurbished stock never appears beside your A-stock, isn’t sold as new, and doesn’t leak into your primary channels. You recover value from returns while keeping the channels your sales team lives in clean.
Do you refurbish in Canada?
Yes, all refurbishment happens at our depot in Markham, Ontario, serving all of Canada. Units stay in-country end to end: no cross-border shipping on the recovery loop, and data on storage-bearing devices never leaves Canada before sanitization.
