OEMs and distributors with an installed base in Canada use us to run in-country warranty repair, returns processing, and deployment, including the board-level motherboard rework most depots subcontract or refuse.

Most OEMs arrive at this page at a specific moment: an existing Canadian repair arrangement is ending or up for review, a US depot is handling Canadian claims badly, or a Canadian installed base has grown past what ad-hoc coverage can absorb. Routing Canadian RMAs through a US facility adds cross-border shipping, brokerage, and duty to every claim, and turns a routine laptop repair into a multi-week wait for the end customer. Microland has run IT hardware depot repair from Markham, Ontario since 1994, serving all of Canada. We handle laptops and notebooks, desktops and workstations, monitors and displays, tablets and 2-in-1s, and docks and peripherals: intake, diagnosis, repair, test, and return in a single in-country loop. Where most depots diagnose down to the board and then swap it, we repair the board itself, at the component and BGA level, including reballing and microsoldering. That changes the economics on any model where replacement boards are scarce, expensive, or discontinued, and it turns a stream of failed boards into a source of repaired spares.

Programs run on software we build in-house rather than on spreadsheets and email. Your team gets a transactional portal to approve or reject repair estimates, route units to a disposition, and open tickets and orders, plus a full REST API so unit-level status can live inside your own systems. The same bench also covers the returns side, screening and refurbishing open-box and customer returns back to sellable grades, and the deployment side, staging and imaging fleets through refresh cycles. That breadth is the point: one Canadian partner instead of a repair vendor, a returns vendor, and a deployment vendor.

Questions OEMs ask before choosing a Canadian depot

Can Microland take over an existing Canadian repair program from another vendor?

Yes. Transitions from an incumbent vendor are a common way programs start with us. We scope the model list, volumes, parts position, and SLA expectations first, then stand up intake, the portal, and reporting before cutover so there is no gap in coverage. Because we build our own software, integration work happens on our side rather than becoming a project for your team.

What laptop and desktop hardware does Microland repair?

Laptops and notebooks, desktops and workstations, monitors and displays, tablets and 2-in-1s, and docks and peripherals, across the major platforms deployed in Canada. We also take failed motherboards and system boards on their own, which suits OEMs running a board-level rather than whole-unit exchange model. Do you repair laptop and desktop motherboards, or only replace them?

We repair them. Most depots diagnose to the board and swap it; we take the failed board to the bench and repair it at the component and BGA level, reworking power circuits, replacing failed chips, and reballing. That matters most on models where replacement boards are expensive or no longer manufactured, and it converts your failed-board stream into repaired spares.

Where is your depot and what area does it cover?

One facility in Markham, Ontario, in the Greater Toronto Area, serving all of Canada. Claims stay in the country, so there is no cross-border shipping, brokerage, or duty in the repair loop, and units are not waiting at the border in either direction. Microland has operated from the GTA since 1994.

How does an OEM integrate its systems with Microland’s?

Through a full REST API that covers both reporting and entry, so RMA creation and unit-level status can run inside your own systems. Teams that prefer not to integrate use the customer portal directly to approve or reject estimates, route units to a disposition, and open tickets and orders. Our in-house development team customizes both per partner.

Do you handle both in-warranty and out-of-warranty repair?

Yes, and usually in the same program. In-warranty units are repaired to your standards and returned. Out-of-warranty units run through an estimate-and-approve flow: we diagnose, quote, and hold the unit until someone with authority in your portal accepts or declines, so no paid repair happens without approval.

What happens to units that cannot be economically repaired?

They stay inside the same loop rather than leaking to another vendor. Unrepairable units go to refurbishment and grading if they can be recovered cosmetically, to parts harvesting if the board or components have value, or to IT asset disposition with data sanitization following NIST SP 800-88 guidelines and documented chain of custody.
